What’s New with the 2018 NASW Code of Ethics? Updating Our Policies and Practices
(2 Clinical, Ethics CE Credits)
Sunday, April 29 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

ALLAN BARSKY, JD, MSW, PHD
Chair, NASW Code of Ethics Review Task Force

COST: $40 for NASW members, $60 for non-members for this add-on ethics plenary

In August 2017, the National Association of Social Workers approved significant revisions to the NASW Code of Ethics, effective January 1, 2018. To help social workers update their policies and practices to align with the new code, this pre-conference program will provide participants with a practical understanding of the revisions, their rationale, and applications to organizational policy and everyday practice.

This plenary session will help attendees to:
· Identify and explain the changes to the 2018 NASW Code of Ethics in relation to the use of technology, informed consent, professional boundaries, cultural competence, disability, and confidentiality.
· Apply the new criteria for determining when it is appropriate to breach confidentiality when clients pose a risk to themselves or others.
· Make changes to their policies and procedures to attend more to ethical concerns regarding the use of technology in social work practice.
