Topic: Sex and Music
Presenter: Ruth Goldsmith, MSW, LCSW

Music is emotional and poetic; expressing what can be difficult to put into words. Music communicates sexual attitudes and beliefs that can be examined during clinical work with clients enabling them and their clinicians to further clarify and make conscious their sexual values. Clearer values leads to clearer behavior. In this presentation, Ms. Goldsmith will provide you a “taste” of this work.

Ruth Goldsmith, MSW, LCSW specializes in the art of talking about sex. As a Sexuality Educator for over 20 years and a Psychotherapist for the past fifteen, she has sought to increase adolescents and adults comfort with their sexual selves. She is passionate about facilitating therapists’ ability to address clients’ sexual issues. Her approach is affirming and inclusive. Ms. Goldsmith, LCSW is a regular presenter for NASW-NJ, Monmouth University, and Rutgers University. Additionally she is an adjunct professor in the MSW program at Rutgers University teaching Clinical Social Work Practice. Ms. Goldsmith, LCSW is trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and is currently a candidate at the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of NJ. She runs a private practice in Somerville and Highland Park, NJ.
