Topic: A Coordinated Response to Sexual Violence: A Survivors Options
Presenter:  Ellen Bloom-Rau, LCSW

The existence of sexual assault and drug facilitated sexual assault affects all members of our community by creating a climate of fear and disrespect for individual, personal, physical and emotional integrity.  The goal of this mini program is to provide a working knowledge of this topic so that we may effectively respond to the crisis, and facilitate the healing of a survivor of sexual violence.

Topics Include:

- Medical, Legal and Psychological Issues Facing the Survivor

- The Sexual Assault Response Team in Monmouth County New Jersey

- Crisis Intervention: The Initial Response and the Survivor’s Options

Presenter Ellen Bloom-Rau was Project Director of Sexual Assault Education and Prevention for the “180 Turning Lives Around” Rape Crisis Program.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Confidential Sexual Violence Victim Advocate as well as a former police trainer, certified through the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice.  Ms. Bloom’s work was funded by a grant from New Jersey Stop Violence Against Woman Act (VAWA) which enabled her to reach many disciplines across the country in need of this vital information.
