A Message from NASW-NJ Executive
Director Walter Kalman
Social Workers in the Workforce
Our NASW National office has posted an online survey that might be of
to you. It's entitled: "Social Workers' Perceptions of Workforce
Challenges." You can help us by giving NASW your candid answers to the
survey questions. Each survey completed helps NASW to better identify
the kinds of challenges social workers face in the workplace.
The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. The
results will be reported as an aggregate; individual comments may be
reported, but respondents will remain anonymous. Click
here for the survey site.
NASW-NJ has promoted grassroots advocacy for many years. For example,
we have worked closely with the Rutgers Eagleton Institute of Politics
in sponsoring Ready
to RunŽ, a national network of candidate recruitment and training
programs committed to electing more women to public office. We have
also supported the work of New
Jersey Citizen Action, the state's largest citizen watchdog
Grassroots advocacy can be extremely effective in
expanding our role as social workers and enabling us to shape public
policy, regulations, and the public perception of our profession. The
June 2015 issue of NASW News has an excellent article entitled Social
Work Tips for Creating Grassroots Advocacy. I encourage you to give it
a read. Just click
