Highlighting Social Workers in Action

Kimberlee Van Burch, MSW, LCSW

Co-Chair of the Hudson Unit of the NASW-NJ

If you read through Kimberlee Van Burch’s websites you get a good sense of who she is as a professional licensed clinical social worker. You get pages of understanding about her training and the philosophical underpinnings of her approach to social work practice:

"Change is not easy, change is necessary, change is the key. Without change, all things remain the same.  I have a collaborative approach to the process of change and helps people reach their personal goals.  I am experienced working with individuals and families in a variety of settings. My philosophy is that good mental health only occurs within a cultural context.  I employ a strength based culturally sensitive approach that allows me to support people through conflict and change."

~Kimberlee Van Burch~

Kimberlee brings all of her training, spirited passion, experience and commitment to social work and her clients to bear as a leader at the local Hudson Unit of NASW.   In my eyes, Kimberlee Van Burch is a perfect example of a social work leader as she epitomizes the professional who so brilliantly balances the roles of mother, wife, entrepreneur, clinician, professional service volunteer and friend.

I am proud to nominate Kimberlee Van Burch for Social Worker of the month.  She embodies the values, ideals and ethics of our profession. I am proud to be a colleague and friend to this gifted and spirited therapist.  She has been a remarkable partner who has breathed life back into the Hudson NASW Unit and expanded our reach to Private Practitioners, other human services organizations and to our general membership.  She is a treasure to her family, our community and to our profession.  She is deserving of the recognition and the celebration.

“Change your thoughts and your change your world.”  Norman Vincent Peale
