Poverty and Health (In)Equity: What Social Workers Need to Know About Social Determinants of Health in Adults and Children

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this training, participants will:
1) Understand the historical and present context of health and poverty;
2) Identify "upstream" and "downstream" social and legal factors that affect health of individuals, communities and populations;
3) Demonstrate knowledge of the direct and indirect impact of law and policy on health; and
4) Recognize the importance of cultural competence in identifying, defining, and addressing issues of health (in)equity
