Join the NASW-NJ Speakers Bureau!
Speakers Bureau Application
You can make a big difference in how the public and media perceive social workers, the profession, and social work issues. In addition, you can provide an invaluable service and education to the community.
NASW-NJ has created a statewide speakers bureau. This development is a direct response to requests from the community to provide social work speakers on a variety of topics. The speakers bureau is a unique way to engage our members and draw upon the experience and diversity within the membership.
The objective of the speakers bureau is to educate social workers, members, professionals, and the public on topics related to NASW membership and social work. Speakers will be available to present at meetings, workshops, panel discussions, or for media requests. Topics may include, but will not be limited to: Self-care; School orientation; Social Work profession; NASW membership; Professional licensing; Mental illness; Access to community services; Insurance issues and panels; Legislation/social policy; Special Interest Group topics.
What it Means to Join the Speakers Bureau
Your information will be entered into a database of social workers from various areas of practice. Chapter staff will use the database to connect requests for speakers to social workers with the relevant experience. Since we know your time is valuable, please make note of the following obligations:
• Speakers must be a social work professional or student member of NASW-NJ.
• Membership in the speakers bureau is voluntary. There is no fee for speaking engagements.
• Each speaker is required to participate in a one-time 2.5 hour orientation session.
• Each speaker is required to demonstrate comfort in public speaking and knowledge of a topic or topics.
• Your name and information will be maintained in a database for a minimum of six (6) months.
We invite you to help educate others who can benefit from your experience! To apply for the speakers bureau, please fill out the application here. If you have questions, please contact Jeff Feldman at jfeldman@naswnj.org.
